Point being: I'd think equally poorly of the rep of any company (charity, political party, religion, etc.) camping on the store front of a competitor.

This truly feels like attacking the messenger, hoping the message goes away.

Nick is here practically begging everyday for actionable QC's, for everyone to complete the Delph survey, etc. Anyone who thinks I think Borland/CodeGear perfect seriously misreads me. (And since I give Nick an earful every chance I get, I know he doesn't confuse me with a blind follower.) But Nick and I do share some military leadership training that enjoins us to praise publicly, and censor in private. And that's also what real friends do.

There are those who agree with Chad on various points, and those who don't. Both sides are obviously entitled to debate those ideas on their merits. Nevertheless, I find Chad's energetic presence on this forum, especially his repeated self-election as CodeGear customer spokesperson, ethically distasteful given his relationship with a competitive product.

My first, gut reaction is, I don't mind the protesters when I agree with them. ;-) But then again, I don't like having to make my way through the solicitors in front of stores either. For all that we're supposed to be giving CodeGear time to prove themselves, I've experienced too much blind optimism here, with past promises that it'll be better, and the current behavior feels like much of the same. The price of freedom of speech is listening to those you don't agree with, and I'd rather have that freedom.

Perhaps it's because I'm one of the few in my family that did *not* enter the military, but Nick's written communication style has frequently irritated me in the past. And I do not believe that blind public allegiance serves the greater good. I'm not here to be a Delphi cheerleader, I'm here to look after my selfish self-interest #1, and for the most part, that depends on a Delphi product I can use.

As for the censoring in private - isn't that what this is? A huge deal has been made in the past about the forums not being public, being the private area of Borland's in the past, not subject to the right of people peaceably to assemble, not open NNTP, etc. I have made attempts myself, that have gone absolutely no where. Why would I keep kicking myself? Because I care, because I can't help myself, and because now "my product" is in the hands of this person who I've rarely agreed with, who's use of the product has been almost 100% different from mine, and that scares me over and over. So I'll give those who are brave enough to speak out about their discontent some encouragement that they're not alone, but I don't know that I'll ever reach out directly to Nick again.

I might be done with this, I keep promising myself I'll stop, then getting worked up over some new outrage.
