In the other thread, someone suggested CodeGear to also support PHP. Since....
this is a Delphi forum, and I
assume everybody here prefers Delphi (object pascal) over other languages,
I suggest CG to support Pascal
What do you think? :)
Honestly, not interested. I prefer delphi when creating desktop apps, but
prefer PHP for web apps. Pascal is good, but PHP is better suited for web
work. For ex, PHP supports varaiable interpolation in strings which makes
code much clearer than if the strings were concatinated together with '+'
operators. Given the amount of string processing done in web apps, this is
a very significant advantage. Now, add that to pascal, and maybe we'll
talk.
The other downside would be, quite frankly, that I wouldnt want to develop
anything significant in a new codegear IDE until its been around for a
while, lest it end up unsupported. At least with PHP, the project cant be
dropped in favor of the chasing the latest enterprise life cycle application
fad.
I might consider using a codegear created PHP ide, but wouldnt change
languages for them.
