Are you able to do DNS lookups? can you ping www.yahoo.com from a command
prompt?
worst case, I might try c:\> netsh winsock reset catalog<enter>
to reset your tcp/ip stack.
IE allows you to manage add-ons... maybe try disabling some of the not so
common ones to see if it helps?
