Re: Delphi for PHP

How many potential customers know that ?

I don't know. How many DON't know that?
(My guess: You don't know the answer to that either)

:D

This is an opportunity for them to reproduce the success of Delphi in
the PHP market.

The thing with "opportunities" is that it's not the fact of their
existence that makes them good, it's what you do when they arise.

Unfortunately, "taking an opportunity" and "making the most of an
opportunity" are not the same thing.

Kylix was an opportunity to reproduce the success of Delphi in the Linux
market.

BDS2005 was an opportunity to reproduce the success of Visual Studio in
the Delphi market.

;)

Or do you want them to call it PHPlix, PHP-BX Builder, or PHPwright in
the memory of failed products? :-)

lol - nope, of course not.

But to be honest, QStudio or Astro might have been better names....

(PHP developer/hobbyist upon reading/hearing about CodeGear
QStudio/Astro)

Q: "Hey, what's this QStudio/Astro thing? It's from CodeGear right?
The Delphi guys?"

A: That's right. It's a new tool that does for PHP what Delphi did for
Windows.

WOW! That's going to be soooooo cool!

(Same hobbyist hearing of Delphi for PHP):
Pah! A proprietary Pascal variant of PHP? That'll never work.

(note: no interest or excitement, no "opportunity" to explain just what
it is - the name communicates a great deal about what it is, but you
expect your audience to take one meaning, when they could equally, and
perhaps more likely, take a completely different meaning)

But ianame just as much as ianal
