The language is Object Pascal.
It *was*, AFAIK, it's currently still named Delphi. Given their latest
"Delphi" usage, it makes sense to rename the language yet again.
Renaming it it "Delphi" was little more than
a botched and poorly thought through exercise in product management. In the
context of the other plans Borand had for the IDE (multiple language
personalities), renaming a language the same name as the IDE framework makes
very little sense in my opinion.
Disagree. In the context of a multiple language product like BDS, it
makes a lot of sense to rename the *language* to "Delphi" to protect the
brand from getting lost with C#, C++, etc.
I'm with Steve on this one, I'm not a branding expert, but I'm a
believer in the _22_immutable_laws_of_marketing_ that Trout and Ries
wrote. Check out Law #12: Line extension. Read Eric Sink's blog about
it: http://www.ericsink.com/laws/Law_12.html
The next book, which I haven't read, looks good too:
_22_immutable_laws_of_branding_ Law #10: Law of Extensions. "the
easiest way to destroy a brand is to put its name on everything."
