Sure. Maybe CG should call their IDE "Gold". Doesn't matter to me. But
Delphi was known as the language to those who knew it, which was precious
few to begin with. Now, everybody is confused.
Well when Borland renamed their Object Pascal, "Delphi", I frankly ignored
them. I've always called the language Object Pascal, and I've always called
the IDE framework "Delphi". For me this was far easier to get across to
clients/customers than trying to explain the multi-language product
universally known as Delphi (I also ignored "BDS", never refered to the
product as that) also housed a language by the same name along with other
languages of different names that all shared the same "Delphi" IDE and
software development Architecture.
"Delphi" isn't a language, its a way of architecting an IDE and software
development methodology at the code level. The VCL isn't language specific,
but a way of thinking about code and coding... "Delphi" and "the VCL" are
cultural paradigms that have crystallised into Software Development
methodologies coherent enough to be productized and BRANDED.
In my opinion.
