Re: The Delphi Brand

The language is Object Pascal. Renaming it it "Delphi" was little more than a botched and poorly thought through exercise in product management.

Delphi WAS a RAD environment for doing Object Pascal.
Now you're telling all of us out here it's just a brand for making CodeGear a buck or two?
Come on ...

CodeGear is making a classic branding mistake.
Why is it a mistake?
Because they are limiting their market based on what the customer "perceives" the product to be.
If they HAD come up with a NEW product name,
public perception would be totally different. ( depending on the product name ).
If YOU don't think so then you should read
some basic marketing books like:

http://www.amazon.com/Positioning-Battle-Your-Mind-Anniversary/dp/0071359168/sr=1-1/qid=1172685229/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1/103-5436560-6744621?ie=UTF8&s=books

This branding blunder could cost CodeGear millions.
I suggest CodeGear should hire a good marketer ASAP.
It's better to pay $250,000 out than to loose $5,000,000.
