Okay, kidding aside -- what makes you think you have to pay twice

Nick,

Let me try.
Let's also say I am a Win32 developer and desperately want Delphi
2007 because it has some features that I want/need, but I'm not sure
when the 2007 version of the full Studio will come out or what Delphi
Win32 features it might have that D2007 doesn't have.

So, do I upgrade to D2007 and get SA so that I can get Studio 2007?
This essentially costs me twice as much as just upgrading to D2007
and may not get me anything useful.

Do I just get D2007 and see what Studio 2007 has and just pay the
upgrade price again if it has something useful for me? Again, I would
be paying twice for the two upgrades, although at least I would know
that the second upgrade price is getting me something that I can use.

Or do I just wait for Studio 2007, delaying using the newer features
but possibly getting nothing useful for the wait. If Studio comes out
a month after D2007, then I can probably wait. If Studio comes out 8
months after D2007, then maybe I can't wait.

Good post Rich. The way I see it. If D2007 has features which you
need, you can upgrade now. Thats 400 <all amounts approximate>. If
you think you will need the features of BDS2007, get SA. Thats another
400. Now, if you don't want to gamble, don't get SA. If in the end,
it appears that BDS2007 is a can't live without, then upgrade (another
400). So in the end, you are paying the same amount (800) if your
ultimate goal is to get BDS2007. If not then you are only out 400.
So, it all depends on if the additional features of BDS2007 (whatever
they may be) are worth an additional 400.

Better yet, get SA for BDS2006 last year and reap the rewards this year
;)
