There is one problem with any XP and Vista dual boot that can cause a
potential problem. Vista stores both Restore and Shadow Copy files and every
time one switches from Vista back to XP, XP finds these Vista files and
because they use a different format than XP's own Restore files it
automatically removes the Vista Restore and Shadow Copy files thinking they
are corrupt. Sometimes in Vista you may need to revert to a prior restore
point or program version but all the necessary files that allow one to do
that have been removed.

Odd, I've been dual-booting XP and Vista on my laptop for a while now
with no problems.

As I said, it's a potential problem and if you never need to use a restore it doesn't bite. To check it out make sure you have a saved restore point in Vista (create one if necessary) then boot to XP and boot back to Vista and go into restore and it will have none saved...
