Re: Any news on ESD->ISO? (for Nick Hodges)

Did not work for me on Vista. Apparently on vista it also creates the same GUID directory in a hidden directory called ProgramData. We definately need an official backup system for this.

Doesn't work in my experience, as the GUID is generated newly, and it isn't just the directory that changes, there is all these GUID.x files throughout the directory.

So - it still downloads the whole thing anyway.

So I had to just start the thing downloading, then copy the files into the directory structure it made.

Sort of half worked....

as
David, there's a very simple way: just backup the *whole* "C:\Documents
and Settings\All Users\Application
Data\{AB3EC276-D261-4943-A921-1CC1C6799AED}" folder and, to install on
the new machine, just place that folder in the same place. If you then
launch the setup from that folder, it will re-download only whatever is
missing, such as the .net 2.0 framework if that 2nd machine does not
have it installed and the first one did. Just don't forget to copy the
folder to the same place or the install will insist in re-downloading
everything again!

I used this process to install a 2nd copy on a Virtual Machine so as to
always have a "clean" installation to test bug reports before submitting
them to QC.
