Hi again
Thanks for all of the help.
When I tried to install D6 on my C drive I got error messages when I tried to write to the folder. I changed the permissions settings in the folder (as per the Bob Swart article) That seemed to fix the problem of writing and compiling to the folder. Just for fun I un-installed D6 and installed it on my D drive. I no longer got the problem re writing to a folder.
However, when I run the program I still get the Microsoft warning "This program has known compatibility issues". But even with this warning D6 seems to work okay.
Most of the sample programs seem to run okay except the fish facts data program. When I load that project I get the following error message: "Network initialization failed. File or dir does not exist. Permission denied. Directory C:\" The mesage related to the C drive even though D6 is installed in the D drive.

Does anyone have D6 running on Vista?
When I load D6 into Vista I get a message saying from Vista saying that D6 is not compatible with Vista. It says to go to Borland for a fix but there is no fix at Borland. I get the same error messages with D7.
When I run D6 and try to load the sample programs I get error messages so I gave up. Is there a fix to allow D6 to run in Vista?
Thanks in advance for help.
Ron
I am running D5 on Vista. I never see an escalation prompt during startup or use. Vista has virtualized a Delphi5\bin folder for a few files which hold settings. Flawless operation.
I suspect your D6 error messages are telling you about things you can fix - stuff about paths or unknown components. If you are logged on as a different person to that who installed the program, you may need to change some D6 paths.
