I would like to see more library functionality like A/V codes written
in Delphi but I think that requires a long term commitment by CodeGear
to make cross-platform Delphi compiler and a key interest in optimised
compiler code generation. Adding in FastCode rountines is a good start
but more is needed from CodeGears side.

An optimised compiler would indeed be VERY nice! I recently did some tests for a C library that use in my Delphi application (a scientific application). I compiled the library (to a DLL) using the Borland C++ compiler, as well as the Microsoft and Intel one, and did some tests using all three libraries in the exact same way. Well, guess which one was (significantly) slower? :)

Now, I code all my math-related stuff in C and compile it with one of those three compilers (I shall let you guess which one... :)).

Alan.

The slowest one? :)

For the kind of thing I do, the slowest one proved to be the compiler that I would have liked to use in the first place... :)
