In OE it was Ctrl-H, but I can't find corresponding in TB.

I "watch" them, and then filter based on watched threads. I use the
following extension to help:

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/addon/905

How do I fold part of a thread?
Seems to be all or nothing.

Yes, it's all or nothing in tbird. IMO, it's not horrible except for
monster threads.

If I finish reading the interesting posts in a group
I can mark the group as read. If another post
comes in, how do I view it?

type "N".

That would be nice, but it doesn't work.

The treeview on the left shows that there are new messages
but they don't show up on the right until I leave the NG
and come back.

"N" get me "Advance to next unread message in 'nextnewsgroup'?
Yes No"
Just as if there were no new messages.

Brad.
