So there's no roadmap, for whatever reason.
It's not just the roadmap this affects though as far as I can see, it's
also any bug fixes, minor enhancements etc. can't be advertised or
promised, not without upsetting cg shareholders if there's a delay.

Exactly David. Means you are trying to base strategic decisions about
using/continue to use & purchase a software technology about which you
get virtually no information in advance.
Given this it somewhat mystifies me how they expect to persuade people
SA is a good Idea now. In fact if revenue recognition is the root of
the current Problems then having SA is a Big reason for the issue to
exist in the first place isnt it ?
I reason this as if Someone gets SA and there is a road map/forward
looking statement before the date SA was purchased that says something
along the lines of ' Version X+1 is expected H1 200x' & it slips to H2
at least a portion of that SA revenue wont be allowed to be recognized
now till H2 . Whereas has having no road map or another concrete
information available means the SA revenue can be more fully
recognized sooner as there is no dispute over how a buying decision
was made. The customer basically has to make a leap of faith.
