An online game I play a lot (too much some would say I guess ;) was
going to get an expansion pack. So the developers decided to poll the
users on the community site. The #1 request was more vehicles.
So the developers used this info and introduced a bunch of new
vehicles in the expansion pack... And then a bunch of the "regular
players" cried out. "What's with all the new vehicles? We wanted new
guns, not cars!" (it's a FPS).
So the expansion pack wasn't really a success and to this day less
than 30% uses it (currently as low as 10%, but I haven't looked that
hard over time). Main complaint is that the new vehicles makes the
whole game less fun for the average player.
I guess what I'm trying to say is that, just because one group is good
at voting at some online poll doesn't mean that they're representative
for the whole...
