Try to imagine what this group would look like if we were obligated to
discuss with any number of participants, whether we were justified for
cancelling any and every particular post.
Did I say or even suggest that? Nope.
Nice straw man you set up for yourself to knock down. And whoops, there
he goes... Hope you enjoyed it. ;)
I said that where the reason for cancellation is NOT APPARENT, then it
should be stated. No need to discuss, just STATE what criteria were
applied.
I think that would stop the abuse of power simply because in those cases
the TeamB'er would not be able to justify their action by providing an
explanation, and so would have to stay their hand.
If the reason for concellation is obvious, no need to state it.
If the reason isn't obvious, it makes sense to state it.
In either case, there is no need to get into a discussion about it.
BUT (and here's the important part...) if there IS NO REASON to cancel,
and therefore no reasonable explanation that can be stated - DON'T
CANCEL.
Let the forum decide whether the poster is an eejut or not.
What you are really saying is that you think we should get permission from
participants before cancelling posts
Am I? I don't think so... let me check. Nope, I'm not saying that at
all. YOU are saying that I'm saying that, presumably in an attempt to
divert attention away from the fact that what I AM suggesting is
perfectly workable but would knock certain TeamB members from their
currently unassailable ivory towers, or at least bring them down a peg
or two.
;)
The moderators of *any* moderated group do not need to answer to the group
for the reasons they cancel any post
Then why bother even having posting guidelines? And why keep referring
posters to them? Just let everyone post and be damned.
Or rather - "cancelled".
