Maybe not intentionally, but then that means you are missing my point, which
is:

As soon as we start explaining our reasons for every cancellation, that
*invites* replies by participants, and the group then fills with long
drawn-out threads for practically every case (even if we resist subsequently
participating in those discussions ourselves - but that won't really be
possible since it will become *necessary* to reply to certain posts when
facts inevitably get twisted). The most ironic part is we would inevitably
end up having to cancel posts in those threads as well - which would then
require explanations, which would cause more such threads ad infinitum.

Sorry but such a request is simply not reasonable, it simply causes more
questioning of both judgement and authority, more useless non-productive
threads, and less value for everyone. My analogy to baseball umpires is on
the money.
