This reminds me:
A few years back, I used to spend a number of weeks traveling
around in EU. I was mad at spending a fortune on car rentals.
Then, someone told me that, if I booked the car from a US-based
travel agent I'd get much better rates.
True enough, when I booked the same car from a Manhattan travel
agent the price dropped to a third.
Afer a few such scenarios, I told this to the rental guy at the
Frankfurt office and asked him why this is so.
I'll never forget the reply:
You do know that we're an occupied country, don't you?..
:P
