Ah, so once you've made some minimum expected "profit" on your product, you are obligated to give any number of additional copies for cost or some nominal profit? Why? Again if you *want* to, that's your choice, but why should you *have* to?
I didn't say you *have* to. I don't care whether CodeGear doesn't even sell
a single license in Gambia. Of course it's their decision. I only said, they
could at least sell something where they currently probably do not sell
anything.
And I don't say that you are "obligated to give any number of additional
copies for cost or some nominal profit". I only encouraged that the price
for software should be geared to the economic situation of each country.
This is of course not possible for products which high fixed prices but
it definitely would be for software.
Why should they settle for a penny less profit than they can get?
Again: I doubt they do make any profit in these countries.
So what would they loose? Nothing at all. It's a win-win situation.
things, why should people in "rich" countries be penalized with much higher prices just because they have more dollars available?
We also could turn this question into:
Why are people in "poor" countries penalized with lower loanes even if
working for western companies which export the products to Europe
and the US? Programmers in India or Russia earn a fraction of what their
collegues in Europe do.

Stefan
