I am perfectly happy with my 13.3" Sony S5M, that has an excellent (glossy being secondary) screen and a good keyboard.
Of course it is a bit small for development. Glossy however is hardly a nuisance. I just have to be about careful about light from behind. But since contrast and sharpness are very good, the much more likely situation of having light from the side (incidence angles from 20° to 85°) is less annoying than with matte screens with lots of diffused light !
But try them out in any case. There is matte and matte (those from Siemens/Fujitsu are crap, washed out colours, remindful of DSTN), and there is glossy and glossy.
