Wonder why your experience is so different from Marc's?
As I had said at the beginning of my first message, BIOS and/or Driver problems.
I build my machine in mid Feb and the first thing I did while I was "smoke testing" with everything just plugged together outside the case was to flash to the latest version BIOS (from P23 to P25) and since then I've flashed the BIOS 3 more times, the latest being version P30. However I've only needed to upgrade one driver one time, the video card but it's an older model but still providers all the really fancy features - it just a tad too slow when running a game. The gammers using my board pay from $600 - $1200+ for their video card system, I paid $90 then and this card now cost ~$60. It's plenty fast for business and app development, it rates 5.9/5.3 on Vista's performance index but on 3DMark06 I only get 3,315 frames/sec while the ubervideo systems get ~15, 000+ frames/sec.
Up until a few weeks ago I had a problem with the S3 sleep function, after a few times it would hang and would I have to restart. This was fixed in BIOS update P28 and now my machine is *almost* never restarted - I hit the Sleep key and in 10 secs it's gone to sleep and touch a key and it's awake again in 3 sec right where I left off. If the power is turned off while in sleep mode you need only o depress and release the Case's Power button to awake the machine from Hibernate mode. Vista uses a hybrid Sleep/Hibernate which some hardware doesn't support.
