It's a mystery to me how something like this could get released*.
How many so called geniuses must have worked on this product
to release such beast and be blind for its abundant shortcomings ?
I really have no time but given time, I'm sure I could write pages
and page full of idiosyncracies in this OS.
Two examples:
1) with standard color settings, has anyone paid attention how
little difference there is in seeing the selected item and hovered
item in Explorer ? Often I'm forced to move my mouse just to
see if I'm actually hovering an item or have selected an item.
Eye candy was apparently more important than functionality.
2) The translucent Window captions make it very hard to see what
application actually has focus as the caption color is affected by what
happens to be underneath a Window. Have you started typing and
realised another window is having focus ? Or have you tried to move
a Window by its caption and realised your mouse hit something above
it ?
And a bonus one, take a look at the shutdown menu... How many
confusing options and if you're not sure or hit the wrong item too fast,
there is not even a confirmation dialog.
* well, actually it's not a mystery: arrogance, monopoly and shareholders
.
