Sure I can turn off everything,
first of all, this requires me to spend a considerable amount of time
figuring out where all these settings are and secondly, in the end,
when disabling about everything Vista added, I could as well have stayed
with Win2003.
I thought I paid Microsoft to get something EXTRA, a BENEFIT, not frustration,
waste of time, hardware resources wasted ...
Well I guess it's a personal opinion - I much prefer Vista to XP, so for me, the upgrade was well worth it. I like the eye candy (yes there are some inconsistencies but they don't bother me), and leave all the effects on.
It's purely a marketing decision - by making lots of changes, MS risks annoying some of their customers, but lets not forget the vast majority of early adopters want the latest and greatest. And if they delivered something that looked just like XP, there would be just as much of an outcry.
It's hard to find a winning position really....
