Really. :)
If you insist on being pedantic, then I should've said it is not a new version of the CLI - .Net 3.0 assemblies are compatible with .Net 2.0.
That's not being pedantic and good on you for finally saying 3.0 is a newer version! And of course 3.5 also uses the same CLI and is itself a newer version than 3.0.
Now if Rudy would only get off his on the one hand it's a new version and on the other hand it's not. :)
About a year ago Microsoft decided to "decouple" version numbers such that we now have .NET CLI 2.0, .NET framework versions 2.0, 3.0 and 3.5 and C# versions 2.0 and 3.0 and they all coexist together. Regardless of how unwise one thinks that decision might be, it will still exist and nothing is to be gained from efforts to claim otherwise.
I know that CodeGear wants to emphasize that the Delphi 2007 .NET compiler is a CLI 2.0 compiler but IMO there is little or nothing to gained marketing-wise by engaging in long-winded arguments such as the one in this thread saying that somehow 3.0 and 3.5 are not new versions.
Perhaps CodeGear should publish a white paper with examples of how to use the Delphi for .NET 2007 compiler and IDE to generate useful applications utilizing the features of .NET 3.0 and 3.5. Just saying it can be done the "hard" way hardly seems all that helpful, especially with the version 3.5 features.
