Actually, my problem was with instability and buggy components causing
apps which used them to be unstable and randomly crash.

To answer your question more specifically, if there are "tons of stuff"
one doesn't need why incur the overhead and space penalty of it hanging
around unused? It's a matter of personal efficiency and systems
capacity and performance.
