many users who see QC as confirmation of their suspicions about this

Perhaps to some degree they're right. Openness shows flaws as
well as good things. "Openness" which only showed good things would
not be openness at all.

Sure.

Personally, whatever someone's suspicions, I think that the actual
effect of QC has been to get bugs fixed and features implemented which
otherwise might not have been done, and IMHO that makes it more than
worthwhile overall.
