I am going to get a new pc soon and I was wondering if a quad core or just a fast dual core pc is best for Delphi. Currently I am running a Pentium Dual Core at 3 GHz. Will a 2.3 GHz Core 2 be faster?I don't know for Delphi but what I know for sure :
Any suggestions?
I am also running a Western Digital 10,000 rpm drive but I am not sure if that makes a significant difference for Delphi?

My friend has just finished the installation of a Poweredge 2950
for a cluster, which holds the main database of his enterprise.
(Mobiles Communications).
The first series of benchmarks are amazing :
the transactional threshold went from 435 to 6557 queries/sec !
Before : P4 2.8 Ghz, RAM 2 Go, 500 Go PATA RAID-1
After : Bi-Xeon Quad Core 1.86 GHz L5320, RAM 16 Go,
750 Go SATA2 RAID 0+1
Which means buying a $4000 machine was like adding 13 machines in cluster like the old one (without adding a the 20 % loss that a cluster implies) !
