I have tried to apply the December update a few times, but to no
avail so far. For information, I run Vista Ultimate x64.
To check for updates using the "Check for Updates" menu yields a
message telling me that no update is available. I have checked my
version of D2007 and it reads 11.0.2804.9245, which I understand
qualifies for the December update.
Since I cannot update the 'normal' way, I thought I would do it the
old way, i.e. download the update from the CG website
(http://www.codegear.com/downloads/regusers/delphi). Once downloaded,
I tried to run the program and like other Vista users (and as
mentioned at the above link), things take for ever, in particular the
"Validating install" step.
This being said, I would be OK with it, if it was to work, but as it
happens it doesn't. Indeed, I eventually get a message that tells me
that C:\PROGRA~3\{6AF0E~1\iwwin32\9EFD72AE\5EE1BFAC\FishMarket.err
cannot be found (?!). If I try to ignore that file, then another one
cannot be found, etc.
Ok, that's a new error to me. Are you running out of hard drive space?
Do you still have the install cache on your system from installing
Update 3?
Vista install *is* long, one to three hours, but I've seen several
hundred installs work. Also make sure the patch name is saved as it's
original name - it's important to have the 'setup' text in the file
name, as Vista promotes that to the required Admin permissions to run
the update.
