Personal fulfilment is an important part of any job.

May your life continue so blessed that you continue to think that.
Certainly they can be important--and are perhaps more likely to be so
if you're lucky enough to have time to worry about those sorts of
things, and not be driven by consideration of feeding the kids,
making the rent, getting a coat before the weather gets any colder,
etc.

Job satisfaction and the need to feed, clothe and house a family aren't
mutually exclusive.

I doubt I'm unique in this opinion.

But let me make a very short observation: people who claim that
money or looks don't matter are rarely poor or ugly. It's human
nature to undervalue what you have.

I didn't say that money didn't matter. I said that it isn't the only
incentive, or even the best one. And trust me, I'm not rich by any
stretch. If we ever meet in person, you can decide for yourself how
attractive you think I am. :)

You work, you get paid--what's not to like?

If that makes you happy, then more power to you.

On the other hand, if someone accepts poor pay or working conditions
because they're afraid of losing their job (for whatever reason), then
I would argue that they are not being suitably appreciated.

Personally, I suspect that they aren't giving themselves enough credit,
but that's a longer discussion.

If it isn't, and it can't be
fixed, it's time to make other arrangements.

Again, if you're lucky enough to have acceptable options.

Luck?

Anyone who relies on luck deserves whatever hand they're dealt.

I've said it before; I'm a big fan of having options, but they don't
(usually) happen by accident. We are all responsible for making our
own opportunities. I guess you could say the harder I work, the
luckier I get.
