The sites can run on 'any' webserver. It is not OS specific.
In fact what CMS Encore do, is to use its data (in form of channels with
articles and media files) as input to defined templates and scripts to
output html, media and other files, that can be uploaded to the webserver.
It includes a pretty good FTP based uploader that detects which files that
have changed and only uploads those.
If you want 'runtime logic' as in dropdown menus etc, you can have all
that too, but you would use Javascript, or DHTML or CSS to make that
happen. Hence there is no proprietare 'executable runtime' that needs to
be distributed to the webservers that you want to deploy on.
