Now, I have a story of my present client. We are actually in the middle of a
complete rewrite of a Delphi app in C#.
The previous post too was sponsored by Microsoft Visual Studio...
Joking aside. You are not the only TeamBer doing this. In many posts you
promote C# or Visual Studio. Why - as a TeamB member - would you do that?
I think the reason is simple. When reading so many posts where people
say choosing VS/C# over Delphi is stupid and only something pointy
hair bosses would do, the desire to bring a balanced point of view to
the table is too much. Sometimes choosing VS/C# and dumping Delphi
make perfect technical and business sense. Sometimes choosing Delphi
over VS/C# makes just as much sense. Sometimes Java or PHP is the
right option. It can just be frustrating when someone decides to do
development in C# they are automatically called stupid.
You also have to remember that CodeGear are not trying to compete with
VS/C#. Doing so would be folly as they are always going to be
followers not leaders in doing so. CodeGear have to find their own
path. This different path means many situations where Delphi is not
the best choice and many where it is.
Craig.
