1-3 really all say the same thing, although WRT 3 even VS doesn't
really have what I'd call "support" for MVC right now. It's mostly
hand-wired at this point. That said, MVC works well enough with no
LINQ, so my wild guess is that it would work relatively well with
Delphi today, though I haven't tried it.

They are distinct things however. The first has to do with earning back
trust from their customer base.

The second is really about staying relevant. If Delphi wants to stay in
the .NET game, they need to support LINQ; despite it not being on the
roadmap.

MVC is separate because Delphi could choose to not support that at all
and continue with the component based ASP.NET model. That's the reason
why I broke it out.

Regardless of the current VS.NET support for MVC today, I suspect
they'll add to that shortly. They've got specific resources allocated
working on MVC and they've got the competitive impetus from Rails to do so.

4 is an interesting idea.

Thanks, I think so too. :)

WRT 5, MVC is pretty indifferent to whether you use master pages.
Works fine with or without, but doesn't really have a better
alternative to them.

Yes, but I find Rails' concepts of partials and views make master pages
seem awkward/clumsy. I presume that MVC will have something like that
instead of master pages, but I haven't looked too closely at ASP.NET's MVC.

Insofar as better templating does, though, this is
cool:

I've used haml. It's ok, I actually prefer standard eruby. I
especially like how merb lets the developer choose, but I digress. But
yes, *something* different would be welcome. :)
