And of course this will fuel the Linux advocates to lobby CodeGear to move away from Microsoft's Windows and focus on Linux and revive Kylix
I don't think anyone has suggested to move away from Windows. But CodeGear could have spent ressources on Kylix instead of PHP and Ruby.
I'm not concerned about what could have been but am concerned about what will be. It does seem reasonable to me that CodeGear's limited resources will return a better ROI if invested in Windows products than in Linux products. I don't see how they can become a force in the Linux without reducing their Windows efforts. Remember that their parent company's stock has decreased in the last six months from $5.50 to $2.50 pre share and now there is an expectation of a reduced global economy so getting funding for new products is even more difficult as the tendency of management in these situations is to maximize short term gains at the expense of long term investments. Borland recently announced a $8-10 million restructuring, closing offices and reducing staff. So you tell me how they can focus on Linux and revive Kylix without moving away from Windows.
