I do not know which newsgroup to ask this question so I am asking it here...
How can I find out the user name of the currently logged in MS Windows user? Thanks.
for future reference this kind of questions belong to B.P.D.Nativeapi.Win32.
Now regarding your question it has been asked and answered multiple times in the past a quick google search with the key words "delphi current user name" returned in the first result page the following two links which answer your question.

Yannis.
I have observed that changing the order of the key words changes the results as well. It has something to do with the position of each word in the sentence (if I could call it a sentence) so I always use the word Delphi as the first key word when I am searching for code snips in google. This produces the most relevant results as early as possible.

Yannis.

You talk a great deal about building a better world for your children, but when you are young you can no more envision a world inherited by your children than you can conceive of dying. The society you mold, you mold for yourself.
