I'll be buying a new work computer shortly, and I'm wondering
if there are any software constraints that would argue against buying a 64 bit machine? (this would be 64 bit XP, not Vista.)
I'm particularly interested in Delphi (D5 & D7) and Delphi related software (e.g., BeyondCompare, MultiEdit), but also
interested in hearing about other stuff too (like Total Commander???)
I don't anticipate problems...but better to ask and know than to assume and be sorry later
your opinions and war stories would be most welcome!
thanks...
Are not most if not all new PCs 64bit now? I think you would be hard pressed to find a 32bit only CPU anymore, unless you of course went with a old PIII or PIV.
I have been running XP 64bit for over a year now and the only glitch I had was with Delphi 2007 not resizing the docked panes after a minimize restore operation and that has been fixed by a unofficial patch.
I would say go for it.
Later,
Tony
