Actually the benefit is when you already have Architect with SA so you get the next Architect for free. You don't have to pay the upgrade price because you already payed the SA when you got your architect license.
It is a win-win situation for both you and CodeGear. You pay them in advance and they deliver to you the product.
Of course for those who want to upgrade their license from one level to another it is not so good. In this case maybe some special prices for active SA should be considered. But all this is a problem for CodeGear marketing.

OK.
I'm not really sure what benefit there is in having SA at all.
As far as I can tell, anyone who's purchased RAD Studio -without SA- is still a registered user and is entitled to download any updates that are made available. For example the December update and recent help updates.
If you have installation problems, I believe these are dealt with by support F.O.C anyway.
If you have some other difficulty with RAD Studio that would require a support incident call, the chances are that the problem would be aired on the newsgroups or QC and any possible workarounds could be found that way. If it's something too obscure then the chances are that support probably haven't got any solutions anyway.
If you have Enterprise -with SA- and want to upgrade to Architect, it appears (from my communications with CodeGear at any rate) that you still have to pay the regular 'upgrade' price for Architect. Having Enterprise with SA carries no weight at all. I would qualify for that price simply by having been a registered of some earlier version.
Therefore, I can see no benefit in having SA.
Regards, Paul.
