That's the point - there can be no general purpose comprehensive
documentation for porting ANY and ALL apps to Unicode.

Well no, indeed. But I'm sure there can be one for porting MOST apps to
Unicode.

Yes, it's called the Unicode Specification. A convenient 1472 page
document, but best read in conjunction with any number of companion
books.

Unicode Demystified (896 pages)
Unicode Explained (678 pages)

(interesting that it takes longer to demystify than to explain!)

If you are targetting CJKV markets then some specific references
covering that would be wise:

CJKV Information Processing (1128 pages)

Or you could just dip into a primer, and fortunately there is just such
a thing:

Unicode Primer

This ones a real lightweight though. A real pocket book at just 528
pages.

Yeah Unicode.... it's REAL straightforward.

Just for comparison, Petzold's Programming Windows (%th Ed) is roughly
the same size as the Unicode Specification, so presumably moving from
ANSI to Unicode is as easy and straightforward as, say, moving from DOS
to Windows development.

And I guess you could be right.

I mean, Adding WinCRT to a TurboPascal for Windows app would transform a
DOS program to a Windows one, right?

What more did you need to know? Just change the screen from a text mode
console to a GUI window and the jobs done.

Just like all we have to do is change String to Unicode, read a couple
of tech notes and we're all set.

Sheesh.

(For the record, yes I know I'm drawing a very long bow from simplistic
page count metrics as an indicator, but it is AN indicator)
