Replied under David's response.

The ones I knew personally in R&D, who actually
took the time to do things like run Delphi on 2 monitors, have left.

Really? No-one here ever uses dual monitors? You know this how?

Allen, do you use Delphi in "classic" mode on your dual monitors? I realize now I left this critical bit out, and yes, it's critical. For those of us who prefer the undocked style, realizing that aparrently non of the R&D folks bothered to run undocked on two monitors was depressing. One person committed to running undocked on a regular basis just to confirm complaints or to be able to fix things during regular IDE work.

I know you're proud of your new IDE, as the principal architect of the new IDE. I'm sorry, but *I* prefer the old interface, with separate floating windows. It works for me. It fits the Windows® style, with multiple floating windows I can drag wherever I want. Maybe it's just the rebel in me, but I *like* not using a VB clone, and yes, that's what the docked style makes me think of.

I've tried running the new style for a fortnight, and gone back. Maybe that wasn't long enough to give it a fair go. But sometimes I want to see something in the middle of the monitor, and program around it. That's just not possible in the new style, and amazingly easy in undocked mode. Just drag the windows around. Heck, I never use poDesigned, so that's not an issue for me either.

As a side note, while I'm ranting... I still would like an option to permanently turn off the Welcome Page and not have issues. I just don't get a productivity boost from it. I'm a keyboard junky. File -> Reopen -> MRU works just fine for me. Distracting me with RSS feeds and other stuff while I'm trying to work is, well, distracting. ;-)

I'm not asking you to turn off the new stuff, I know you hate too many options, but please make the options that you have work great. Polish the gem that is Delphi.
