for Delphi and C++ Builder Developers
-------------------------------------------------------
dBASE Inc. cordially invites you to participate in the final Beta-Test
of our new, unique Database Client: dQuery for Borland's Delphi and
C++ Builder.
dQuery is a remarkable, powerful database tool designed for both
developers and their end-users. It delivers fast, live-data modeling
capabilities to the developer, flexible and easy querying and
reporting to the end-user, and secure, password-protected access to
remote databases over the Web - without middleware.
For the Developer, dQuery offers:
a.. Drag-and-drop data modeling with live real-time data
results.
b.. Table creation, index definition, master-detail
relationships and SQL filters.
c.. Import of Delphi and C++Builder data objects from tForms and
tDataModules.
d.. Export of your dQuery data model to Delphi or C++ Builder
standard data components.
e.. Live access to your Client's data over the Web.
f.. Data pumping - open as SQL Server, save as Oracle - even
save multi-database Views to a new table of any type.
For the End-user, dQuery offers:
a.. Roll their own reports, their way, without compromising data.
b.. Run their own queries, filters, master-detail relationships -
visually.
c.. Extract data easily with the new, graphic Star Filter.
d.. Get at their data, over-the-web, without programming.
e.. Export their data to any file format, to almost any database.
f.. Combine data from incompatible databases with drag-and-drop.
dQuery defies simple description - think of it as the first Universal
Database Client for the enterprise or small business. Think of it as
the Database Desktop gone mad, delivering all of the features a
database companion product should have - and more. Do your clients
need reports? Do they want them endlessly customized, their data
massaged? Decentralize - move these endless improvements and tweaks
down the line to the desktop, where they belong. Free up your
resources, the IT department's resources and let the user safely roll
their own.
We welcome Delphi and C++ developers to become dQuery VARs,
revenue-sharing partners deploying dQuery to your clients,
departments, organizations.
One important note. dQuery does indeed sit upon the Borland Database
Engine - not the newer data sources in the latest versions of Delphi
and C++ Builder. That really shouldn't matter at this point, as dQuery
does -not- become part of your Delphi application, it just generates
the Delphi code you need to share your designs between dQuery, Delphi
and C++Builder.
Future versions of dQuery for Delphi will include native ADO support
and code-streaming for all types of Delphi-compatible data classes. We
plan to offer a new, thin data layer to replace the BDE some time in
2004.
We need your help. We're close to shipping this product and want to
absolutely ensure that we're delivering real value to the Delphi and
C++ Developer. Your feedback is invaluable to us.

Thank you.
