On web app vs n-tier app . . .
I think both solutions would be good, depending on the project needs. The
attraction of a web application is the universal client (the browser), so
anyone can access the app from anywhere on pretty much any platform.
So I think it boils down to what the specific project requirements are.
Perhaps he might do a thin client for in-house use and still provide a web
app as an interface to the app the general public could use. If general
access from any OS is a requirement and minimal maintenance of clients is a
requirement then a web-app might look very good.
