Today the DSpatial project published release 0.3.0 of the DSpatial kernel.
DSpatial is an open source project that aims to supply Delphi and Kylix
developers
with geospatial analysis tools at no cost. Currently DSpatial is not likely
going to be your geospatial analysis environment of choice - it will only
*display* SDTS raster files, E00 grid files, Idrisi rasters, HDF files, and
raw binary files (BIL, BIP, BSQ, DEM, ESRI FLT), but it does so pretty well
and you can export spatial data to any graphics format for which you have a
driver (natively supported are JPEG and BMP, but this is easily extended to
many more formats). It also has a great histogram function which you can use
to explore your data. Come take a look to get a feel of where it is going.
Some of the more common data sources that DSpatial can visualize are USGS
DEMs (SDTS), GTOPO DEMs (raw binary), Landsat satellite imagery (HDF), and
the free NASA-EOS satellite imagery such as MODIS and ASTER (HDF). You can
export data to simple formats, such as those used by ArcView and Idrisi.
The major new feature of this release is the ability to display data sets of
virtually unlimited size without exhausting your computer's resources. The
multi-threaded locking mechanism is improved to reduce the number of locks
in the kernel.

D5+/K2+ required.
