NexusDB (www.nexusdb.com) will fit your needs here. Scalable from single
user (embedded DBMS) through to hundreds of users.

Copy the server exe (and ini) file onto the designated file server. Enter
the path to where you want your tables stored. Activate the TCP/IP protocol
and engine. Leave running. :)

Its on our wishlist to allow all tables to be stored in a single file
database. Version 2 is coming out in a few months - can't say for sure if
this feature will make it into that version though.

Easily accomplished.

One table per OS file is the current configuration. (However, you can
optionally store BLOB's and Indices in their files if you so desire.)

<shudder> agreed... :)

With NexusDB you can develop a demo that is self contained (that is, server
and app in the one exe file) and even supply it so that it runs (for
example) off a CD-ROM (that is, you can configure it to use a read-only
database). If you were to setup your app so that it created the data within
the exe, then your entire demo could be distributed as a single file.

Come over to our NG's (News.nexusDB.com) and feel free to flog it a bit
more... <g> The nexusdb.public.discussions NG would be the best to ask
questions.
In summary, I think you'll find all your specified needs, bar the single
file DB, are catered for with NexusDB.
See you over there!
