Hi Andrew,
I would have to agree with you to an extent, especially the part about spam.
However, if the product has merit, is useful and fairly priced, you WILL
sell it, given enough time. I started in my garage with a small website
about 6 years ago and now we have resellers/customers that span the globe
and sales increase dramatically every year so far. This was without ANY
traditional advertising other than website and treaking it to get better
non-paid queries on search engines. (Real money for real advertising would
have put us much more ahead of the game though) Of course, we've been
fortunate to attract some pretty heavy hitters as far the marketing side
goes, but that, I think is a reflection of the product and the service that
we provide.
Remember, people talk, good or bad about a product (bad things seem to get
more attention apparently) and when you back up a good product with more and
better service than your customer expects, I believe you almost always have
a winning combination. Of course, many would say that I just got plain
lucky. LOL, at that point, I would have to paint them a picture of me and
wifey digging for change in the cushions of the sofa for the first couple of
years!!!
Warm Regards,
Lee
