A new update of Team Coherence (7.1.2.90) is now available.

This release was designed to improve server maintenance, and allow transfer
of information between repository instances. In addition, many users have
requested the ability to import legacy Visual SourceSafe ® repositories into
Team Coherence and this has now been implemented. For a full list of

Visual SourceSafe ® Import
===========================

One of the most common requests recently has been from users of Visual
SourceSafe ® who are switching to Team Coherence. Without this tool,
existing users of VSS would have to keep hold of their copy of VSS to
maintain their development history prior to the switch while using Team
Coherence for new development. This tool now allows existing VSS
repositories, or individual Projects to be imported directly into Team
Coherence, making the switch from Visual SourceSafe ® to Team Coherence much
easier.

Export/Import Projects and Users
=================================

Another common request from existing users has been adding the ability to
reorganise repositories and, in particular, to have the ability to move
Projects from one repository to another. In addition, once a repository has
been configured, the ability to copy Users and Groups to newly created
repositories has been a concern.

This new utility can copy Projects and/Or User information between
repositories. It has also been implemented in the API.

Remote Access
==============

A few users (two that we know of) have experienced problems when accessing
Team Coherence repositories remotely through the Internet and via VPN
connections. Team Coherence sends and receives binary information using
basic TCP/IP connections, but it seems that certain routers and other
hardware can interpret characters in the data stream as handshake commands
which messes up the communications.

If you are experiencing lockups of the Team Coherence client while accessing
remote repositories, the following may help:

Shutdown the Team Coherence server instances and modify the repository
Settings.dat file (in the root folder of your repository) to add the
following in the [General] section:

 EncodeStreams=1

This will cause all communications between the client and server to be
UUEncoded (plain text). In the existing situations where remote access has
locked up, the above change fixes the problem.

Update Notifications
=====================

We have now tidied up our current user list, and updated our internal tools,
and hope to be more pro-active in notifying existing users of new updates
and partner offers. To this end, we have added a new page to our web site to
allow existing users and interested parties to request notification or
update their contact details. This page can be found at:

Future Development
===================

QSC are committed to the ongoing development of Team Coherence.

Current Work In Progress includes a major UI rewrite in Tracker, and the
development of more remote-access maintenance tools for the Team Coherence
Server.

In addition, a reporting/metrics module is under development to allow
enhanced reporting and charting of repository data.
