If I understand correctly, you need only messaging functionality, i.e. to
send and receive messages only,
without working with contact list, user info, and other server
functionality, but by any of popular protocol
(asuuming that your clients already have registration in any of these
messaging systems,
but if anybody has not?).

MsgCommunicator is usefull if you need to deploy your alternative messaging
system.
If you are not in need of messaging server, you can use a number of freeware
third-party clients for ICQ, MSN, etc.

Why you do not want to go this way and are searching for commercial product?
