Exe protection & license management .... which one?

I'd like you to point me to the right direction. There are programs
(Ultraprotect, ICE License, XProtector/Themida), there are so many
claims ("best", "most secure"), and still, there are some disturbing
messages about their vulnerability and questionable protection on this
thread.

They are quite expensive, so I don't want to "EXPERIMENT" with them...

So which is the best one? Is ­anyone able to answer this question
without any personal or business i­nterest? Can it be proved
objectively that one is better than the other?

OR: has any of you used any of these (with time trial) and avoided
cracking successfully?
