That is a red herring. It doesn't matter which language or compiler you
use, because without standardized documentation of your formats and
processing rules you seem likely to be toast no matter what.

Given that the C standard doesn't specify the exact size of the
fundamental size, and that there actually have been ancient standard
compliant C compilers for which a char wasn't 8 bits and an int wasn't
32 bits - What guarantee do you have that e.g. a C# int is a 32 bit
signed integer in .NET 7.0?
