I agree. I remember someone asked in the DevExpress to add PNG Images
Support. They told him that PNG supoort added to TO-DO list. That happend
back to 2003. In 2004 a guy posted that he has modified the ExpressBars
files to support PNG files. DevExpress never asked for the modified files so
they can support PNG officially to all users but they told the user that
this action was illegal (modifying copyright code).
Now, at 2005 we can still see DevExpress, the "leader" (?) in Toolbars and
Grids having only BMP support in their VCL version of their products and PNG
support in their .NET products, because PNG is supported by the .NET itself.
For me, it looks like they boring... or they dont care for the fine
appearance of their products. We all know how many benefits PNG can have in
a new-look toolbar (Antialising, semi transparency etc). Btw, for those who
dont know, the porting of PNG to delphi is already out (available to
developers). Maybe someone must say that to DevExpress developers.
For me, its better to use Toolbar2000 with extensions to support Themes +
PNG and have the same result as DevExpress, at zero cost and great support
via newsgroups.
