Dear John,
It would be wrong of me to 'knock' specific products and in past projects, I
have used ASProtect ... it does work very well and is straightforward in
use. At the peak of our problems with Letter Rack 3D, we did trial ASProtect
but the version that we had access to introduced another problem DEP (Data
Execution Protection) on XP / 2003 systems. I think that the new version of
ASProtect will have overcome this problem and I believe that there are no
direct tools available that can readily reverse engineer ASProtect 2.12.

The only adverse comment is that any form a code compression can introduce
memory problems :
