Since this is a major release (version 5 rather than 4), could you pick out
which are the major new features from this, and elaborate them a little?

Or is it the case that the transition from version 4 to version 5 has been
gradual, so there is now little change between the last version 4 and the
current version 5?

Was there any compression before? Compressing files transfered is indeed a
good idea.
